The offices of our Canadian affiliates, Central Global Resources ULC, are located in Calgary, Alberta, a modern and progressive city, where the high plains meet the foothills of the majestic Canadian Rockies to the west. With a population of over one million people, Calgary is the largest city in the Province of Alberta and the third largest municipality in Canada. Canada is one of the world's most important producers of natural resources, including wood and agricultural products, minerals, coal, and oil and gas. Calgary boasts the headquarters of many of these large corporations, plus those in the fields of chemicals, railroads, communications, and manufacturing.
Canada is one of the world's wealthiest nations and is a member of the G8. It is one of the world's top ten trading nations. According to Forbes Global 2000 list of the world's largest companies in 2008, Canada had 69 companies on the list, ranking 5th next to France.
Canada is a net exporter of oil, natural gas, coal and electricity and is the most important source of US energy imports. It possesses vast reserves of crude oil and natural gas and is one of the world's largest natural gas producers and exporters. Natural gas was first discovered in 1883 near Medicine Hat, Alberta and oil was first discovered in western Canada in 1902. Huge reserves were consequently discovered in 1947 and the oil and gas industry became a dominant force in the economy of western Canada.
Central Global Resources ULC owns and operates significant oil and gas properties located in Canada's three Western provinces. Major operated properties include the Pickell and Oak Units in British Columbia, the Donalda and Bashaw Units in Alberta, and the Abbey Hatton gas area of Saskatchewan. Central has a net daily production (after royalty) of approximately 3000 barrels of oil equivalents, approximately 50% is Company operated.
By means of its ownership in more than 300,000 net acres, Central has considerable upside potential via developmental drilling and field expansion. Central also owns significant non-operated and royalty interests, as well as gas plants and gathering systems.
