Our Dutch group companies are located in the beautiful European city of Amsterdam in the heart of The Netherlands. Famously known for its countryside windmills and acres of tulips in the spring, The Netherlands is conveniently located in Western Europe, bordering the North Sea, Belgium and Germany. The population consists of over 16 million and it is a major player in the European Union. Increasing in its global competitiveness, The Netherlands ranks as the 16th largest economy in the world. The Netherlands is also known for its stable, prosperous, open economy, which also focuses heavily on foreign trade with countries from all over the world.
Amsterdam is a prime location for Central’s presence because it is the financial and business capital of The Netherlands and is one of the best European cities for international business. Our first venture, Central Global Resources Cooperatief UA, was established in March of 2008 in partnership with our Canadian District Office, Central Global Resources, ULC. A subsequent venture that will handle the business affairs of our future Brazilian affiliate is under development. Central’s Amsterdam office also serves as a base of investment for future international transactions of the Central affiliates.
The Netherlands is a major exporter of agricultural products and oil and gas, due to its mild and damp climate and its richness in natural resources. Rotterdam is the largest port in all of Europe creating easy access for foreign importing and exporting. In fact, The Netherlands is the third-largest producer and the second-largest net exporter of natural gas in Europe. The majority of its GDP is made up of metalworking, oil production and refining, food-processing and fishing. The Netherlands has proven oil reserves of 100 million barrels and natural gas reserves of 1.416 trillion cubic meters. It produces 84.69 billion barrels per day, and 72 billion cubic meters per day, accounting for 2.18 of the world’s total production. An abundance of oil and gas reserves discovered in the North Sea also accounts for 40 percent of The Netherlands’s total oil production.
Amsterdam is also the 5th busiest tourist destination in Europe with more than 4.2 million international visitors per year. People from all over the world come to explore the Dutch countryside, walk the majestic canals of Amsterdam, and visit the Anne Frank House and the Van Gogh Museums.
